Classical training

On the way to Target this afternoon to get some supplies, I phoned my buddy Micah to ask him about the rules of writing a tragedy. I caught him in the middle of showing off to his lovely wife all of the discount books he had just picked up. He breaks free for a few minutes and quotes Aristotle to me. As is often the case when seeking writing advice, I had been moving in the right general direction, but hearing someone else say it out loud really helped me decide which specific path was the right one.

So, now it seems I am writing a mystery AND a tragedy. And a superhero story.

Also, I keep writing page after page but that deadline seems to be rushing at me faster than that finish line.

Hopefully, this bit of clasical direction will make the pages pour out a little quicker.
